Had this side-by-side with two other coffee hazelnut beers - the Holy Mountain King's Head - Bourbon Barrel Hazelnut Coffee and the Pure Project Corylus.

Look - Pours a solid black color with a light brown head that lasts a minute or two.

Smell - Malt, bourbon, hazelnut, and vanilla.

Taste - Coffee, hazelnut, vanilla, and bourbon.

Feel - Has a very nice feel to it. Super smooth and easy drinking for a 14%ABV stout.

Overall - This a really good hazelnut coffee stout. Though the hazelnut was light, the overall flavor and feel is great. I liked the Holy Mountain best, but this was my 2nd best.

Released 12/23/20; drank 12/30/20 @ the Yarchives.

Black appearance.

A rough pour yielded a nice tan head; nice lace.

Rich medium roast coffee bean & hazelnut notes up front in the nose; vanilla & dark chocolate follow. Intense!

Creamy, thick mouthfeel.

Strong hazelnut & medium roast coffee bean flavors up front; dark chocolate, vanilla & faint fresh earth notes on the finish. Faint booze heat emerged as this warmed.

Wow. The coffee, hazelnut & vanilla really shine here, but there is ballast provided by some darker, roasty notes. The cinnamon isn't really present, but that works for me in a big way. A pastry dream. Bravo, Burial...and this makes me really want to try Onyx coffee.
