I haven't had anything from Burial before, but I like that they're keeping things simple with a 5% coffee Stout. You don't see these with sessionable abvs much these days, so this is a nice change of pace. Let's pop it open and see what it has to offer
Pours completely pitch black with a finger of creamy light beige head that quickly fades to a ring and leaves minimal lacing
It is all on coffee in the nose and I'm all about it. I'm picking up on aromas of burnt coffee beans, dark chocolate, dark toast, caramel, black cherry, light vanilla, and brown sugar
It's more of the same in taste and that's fine by me. On the front end of the sip I'm tasting dark roast coffee, brown sugar, dark chocolate, burnt toast, caramel, light molasses, and red grape. The swallow brings notes of burnt coffee beans, black cherry, dark chocolate, burnt toast, caramel, campfire smoke, brown sugar, light herbal hops, and black pepper
A light medium body pairs with gentle carbonation, resulting in a sharp beer. Finishes dry and roasty
This one is damn good. Straightforward but flavorful

Burial's Immortal Chalice is an aggressive and perplexing coffee stout. Roasted campfire notes dominate the palate but the coffee flavor comes in on the thinner side. Almost like a mezcal version of beer. Although the coffee is soft, the deep roast and malty flavors shine. So much flavor for such a low ABV beer.

Not terrible but very bland and weak tasting/smelling.
