Made with patience. Enjoyed despite it. An opening of the summer’s vault, made possible by purpose. Many years ago the Marzen style was born for festivity in the Fall. In those days, the last brewing season was March, before fermentation became unsafe due to the rising temperatures of the Summer. So they brewed this beautiful copper beer in spring and sat upon it for many months. We feel the purpose has changed and so we make this March beer now for March, as a way to fade from the darkness and into the light. Made with barley and German hops, our Marzen is fermented slow and low and then spunded in the cellar for natural carbonation before heading into our horizontal aging vats. Early is a bouquet of raisin, toffee, dry toast and natural fermented coffee beans.

Look: It pours deep cooper with an off white head. It has average head retention.
Smell: It has deep malty aromas featuring bread and a bit of molasses. There is a slice spiciness from the hops present.
Taste: It has strong malty flavors with toast and touches of molasses. There are very low levels of raisin and some spicy touches.
Feel: It has a medium body with a dry finish.
Overall, a nice drinking beer that adds touches of raisins.

Can dated 13 Feb 2024 into pint glass. Pours a gorgeous deep amber with a thin but persistent light tan head. Not much lacing. Initial impression is bready, malty and slightly hoppy. Mouthfeel is clean and refreshing. Finish fades to a slightly spicy maltiness. Overall, one of the better Märzens I've had.
