Imperial stout with Madagascar and Mexican vanilla beans, toasted cocoa nibs, Burial espresso beans, Meyer lemon zest and ladyfinger cookies.

The little fragments of space in between two mystics. The time we call the bounds of our existence. We are each a reverberation of intangible energy set into form. And we are each essential to the workings of this mad world. So we wind down the ends of this spectrum with yet another celebratory element of this strong ale program. A blend of three imperial stouts to build a quite quaffable, lower alcohol presentation, before laying it upon house-toasted cocoa nibs, our very own Griddle espresso beans, freshly-zested Meyer lemon, toasted ladyfinder cookies and a melange of scraped Madagascar and Mexican vanilla beans. This cake welcomes you to new beginnings with a warm batch of lemon tiramisu, topped with vanilla creme, and layered in shaved truffle.

burial coming up huge lately with the heady stouts and exotic names, this beer is real unique on the ingredient side, a little more subtle on the palate, but super well made and fun, as always from these guys, definitely a top brewery in the country, has been for awhile. this is done with vanilla beans of multiple origins, cocoa nibs, house espresso beans, meyer lemon zest, and lady finger cookies. more interesting on paper than it is in the glass, the vanilla and cocoa kind of steal the show, or rather the lemon and the cookies are super subtle, to the extent that neither were a big part of this, at least for my palate, but there is a lot of stout in the glass still, its rich and big but also well refined, the vanilla is high end and alluring, while the roast is strong and this has fine charry bitterness through it, darkest of the dark. bigtime dark cocoa and coffee to this, bold and bitter, but never acidic or burnt, smooth and nice with all this body, really palate coating but not super sweet, molasses, maple, and just a little of the oily lemon zest as the temperature warms, but it doesnt lighten this much and i do wish for more of it. the cookies to me might be a bit lost the the malt depth and the vanilla, kind of play in a similar space maybe, but cool that they are in here, uncommon anyway. hints of hazelnut, tobacco, rich espresso crema, and brown sugar. this is great stout, not as interesting as i hoped for, but big and full bodied and complex anyway, and interesting in its malt profile, a great showcase of this vanilla, and something that should be appreciated for what it is not picked apart for what it is not, despite this review. lovely stuff, burial rules.
