Bourbon barrel-aged barleywine with Congolese vanilla beans.

Here lies our reckoning. Compromised by worldly gains. Cast in the flames we've sworn to face. An oath with the Barleywine legends at Anchorage Brewing Company. A deft blend of 12 to 24 month barleywine aged in Buffalo Trace Rye and Wild Turkey Bourbon barrels was met with small addition of Vanilla from the Democratic Republic of the Congo to produce a luscious and complex display of caramelized figs coated in 70% cacao chocolate and rye whisky soaked lady fingers topped with toffee vanilla whipped cream rounded off by a firm and oaken finish.

Pours a nice touch walnut furniture color thin tan ring more then a head.

Aroma is malty, caramel, cherry, vanilla, wood notes, not much bourbon but good wood notes.

Taste is lighter then you would think, taste is smooth sweet caramel malts, light sugars, dark fruits, Woodford cocktail cherries, vanilla, smooth not hot but can tell it's got a kick.

Mouthfeel is lighter then you would think.

Overall smooth easy drinking, just lighter then you would think for a BW.

Dark red, feigning black, but revealing itself in wide edges under a short tan head that audibly fizzles out in not too much time.

Surprisingly American, bitter pinewood, molasses and cherry skin meet butterscotch through a lightly crackly but otherwise slickly viscous body that exhales a touch of the added vanilla making for a sort of Oreo oak char, but not as sweet as that might indicate.

Not the best drinking pastry-wine.
