To craft this beer, the Burial team created a blend of some of their most immaculate bourbon barrel aged stout and conditioned it on toasted cocoa nibs, bourbon-rested Madagascar and Tahitian vanillas, cinnamon, and smoked sea salt.

Built in a nearly solera style, Burial's blend of stouts see a bright new life with the aid of coconut, cinnamon, vanilla and sea salt.

Pouring dense and dark, A Disillusioned Escape... rests with a blanket of dark mocha whipped froth and a sultry scent of chocolate and bourbon with softer spices and soothing port-like scents. As the flavors flow over the tongue a malt-rich tone is set with dark chocolate, espresso bean, toffee and vanilla cream. Wrapped in more savory flavors of port, sherry and bourbon nuances, the vanilla, coconut, char and dark fruit esters add complexity and depth in taste. With a mild coffee-like bitterness, the finish comes with spicy bourbon, vinous notes and a warming booze sensation.

Full bodied, malty-sweet and richly packed, the beer is an absolute dessert sipper to ...Escape to a Place of Nonexistence.

Poured at fridge temp, but tasted over a period of time that allowed it to warm up a bit. Pours a thick black with almost no head. The nose is amazing. Cinnamon hits first. Chocolate, vanilla, coconut, bourbon, and a slight hint of roasted malts.

The taste is fantastic. Again, loads of cinnamon first, which I love. The slight bitterness from the dark roasted malts comes through. Slight burnt toffee as well. Getting a solid amount of vanilla and cacao. Slight salty note as well. I'm loving this one. Not too sweet, and just a very slight bitterness.

Mouthfeel is fairly thick and viscous. The aftertaste is dominated by cinnamon and chocolate. Very glad I got to try this one!

Look - Pours a pitch black color with a light head that disappears within a minute.

Smell - Bitter cacao, bourbon, cinnamon and vanilla.

Taste - Cinnamon, vanilla, bourbon, and cacao. I'm not tasting the bitterness that I got in the nose, which is good.

Feel - Feel is generally very good, especially for a 15%ABV beer, though I'm not a huge fan of cinnamon - not because of the taste, it tastes nice, but because spice tends to leave a lingering aftertaste.

Overall - A decent stout, though I've had beers from Burial I like more.
