Dated 05/01/26 WC IPA, into a Hoof Hearted becher pint.
Pours a clear gold with minimal foam, exceptionally bright. Aroma is spicy orange peel and dry grapefruit, Citra on Citra on Citra. Flavor is similar, super dry citrus and grapefruit rind with a little dankness on the back end but very clean and bitter. No malts besides a little pils cracker flavor, just pure, unadulterated bitter Citra. I don't like Citra in hazies unless it really trends towards the fresh orange juice character and this beer really reminds me why. It's a juicy hop, but it works best when it can be dry and the grapefruit and orange peel flavors can be expressed well. This beer does both extremely well and very cleanly without any interference. It's billed as THE Citra beer, and I think it does this the best out of anything I've tried. There's a ton of complexity and it's juicy as well as dry, with some pine and rosemary coming through especially on the finish, but at its core this is a crisp, clean showcase of fresh delicious hops. Feel is great, carbonated enough to aid with the bitterness but not interfering, and lower body to let those hops shine once again.
Overall, I had a bad Burial WCIPA the other day, and this one makes up for it in spades. What a lovely showcase of a fantastic hop done in such a clean manner.
