a collaboration with other half, seems like these two are doing a fair bit together, cool! big juicy hazy one here, weird name but thats kind of their thing i guess, on tap at the impressive forestry camp location. this is loaded with a wicked mix of hops and hop products, all the sexy stuff in it, and it totally pops, super high saturation but not overdone, oats and wheat in the mash support this gnarly hop load really well, and the beer is smooth and creamy with low bitterness, well hidden abv, and really not even all that weighty to drink on, fuller sure, but not a gut bomb, incredible depth and range of hop character in this. looks whitewashed and really pale orange, thick inch of white foam on top, cool angular glass they serve it in here seems perfectly suited, not murky and messy as these can often look when they are double dry hopped and based on grains beyond barley, good carbonation is essential here too. southern hemisphere fruitiness leads, in the nose for me its mango and peach and white wine grape, high thiol stuff for sure, very new zealand, hints of coconut and melon rind and navel orange, real fresh, a touch sweet, a little candied concentrated intensity, but not vegetal or bitey at all, lightly earthy at the core of it, but the grain seems only in service of the hops. the flavor is neat but its a touch of a kitchen sink think, cohesive yes, but it kind of all hits at once and as good as it is, i kind of want each hop to have its instant, like im not sure i could call out hallertau blanc in this, yet its such a distinctive and obvious hop most of the time, i think the nectaron kind of dominates, which isnt a bad thing, but its not quite as nuanced as it smells to me, and that continues to be true as i work on it and as it warms up some. definite peach, mango, and orange juiciness all through it, tangerine and some danky hash oil character too, oils on the tongue here, permeating, bold but never bitter, long fade on this with some residual sugar and the body, delicious and i mean totally awesome hop profile, just a tad muddled maybe, more compelling aromatically, for me personally anyway. its not a hard beer to drink but its tiring a little bit, this level of hop intensity is a lot for the palate, and i wasnt interested in a second pour of this one, much as i did enjoy it. ipa, particularly hazy ipa, is in an exciting place right now, a moment, its all about high saturation and hop products and doing something new and absurd all the time, fun to be around beers this advanced...
