You might look at this beer and expect a fruited sour, but it's not. It's a solid saison with just a hint of sweetness from the cherries. I don't get any tartness from them like you do in a lot of cherry-based beers, but here the sweetness counteracts the peppery saison flavors to make a nicely balanced beer. The one issue I had was that this six-pack appeared to have been overly carbonated, but otherwise I'm impressed.

My second saison from Sanitas, both from Beer Drop who always drops two copies on me.... which is usually nice and, in the case of Sanitas, is pretty nice.

BA's average on Cherry and Sanitas Saison are below UnTappd's considerably; and the reverse is rarely not the case. Why?
I don't know and can't venture a reasoned guess.

Instead let me explore what I call the"Mile High Belgian Yeast Conundrum" theory. This states that Belgian yeasts and tastes evolved at sea level operate differently in Denver. We like to think of terroir as a sea level constant thing; but yeasts are a different ingredient than grain or water or spicing. For yeast performs differently when the air is thinner. Hence, comparing Colorado Belgians to Belgian Belgians has difficulty accounting for different terroir; and yeast is a primary factor. Sanitas does not solve this Mile High problem and it might take several generations. But for now, it doesn't really matter. But we need to recognize that native ale from Denver will have different terroir than ales brewed in sea level Antwerp... and comparisons should factor that in or else, terroir becomes a negative and doesn't encourage innovation.

As for Cherry Saison, I will review it while having my second can from Beer Drop. Tonight, it is food-friendly with ratatouille and two sauces (honey mustard and BBQ)on my veggie burger.

7/9/22 Cherry was drank next to pizza tonight on a warm summer evening. Cherry did its job: was refreshing, built appetite and cleansed the palate for another bite.

Refreshing summer beer with some of the normal funky aftertaste and smell you would expect with a farmhouse ale. Not very cherry. Very average for what it is. I would not buy this again at full price but maybe on sale on a hot day.

Honestly, I didn't get any cherry flavor coming through and it just tasted like any other cheap canned beer. Definitely would not recommend. It did have a light pink color, still smelled like any watered down cheap beer. Not really worth the premium price, I took one sip and dumped the rest of the can down the sink.
