Pours fairly clear, dark amber/lightly reddish-brown. Small head production, quickly fading to a bubbly, pinkish-beige ring around the edge of the glass.
Boozy, hot liquor nose, not quite inimitably rum, but identifiable when you know what to look for. Lots of brown sugar, oak, toffee, prunes, raisins, and maple - not unlike Utopias - with sweet potato and vanilla noticeable on deeper inhales. A touch too medicinally alcoholic on the nose up front, detracting from an otherwise very nice smell.
Fairly sweet brew, but not overmuch, with brown sugar, caramel, and rum, along with overripe fruit tones and raisins. Second half is full of cinnamon, sweet potato, caramel, and cream: an incredible likeness of southern sweet potato casserole. The rum isn't overly strong, and does a nice job complementing the other flavors quite well.
A touch fizzy on the mouthfeel at first, but it smooths out to a nice sticky medium-light body, with full flavors. Very pleasant chest-warming heat. Very, very easy to drink, although the sweetness and flavors makes it more or less a sipper.
Really fun and interesting beer. Definitely worth a try, although perhaps too pricey for the overall experience. Would make an excellent post-Thanksgiving or Christmas dessert beer.
