Had this on tap at the Funky Buddha for the Wide Awake It's Morning Release Party.

A - Pours dark brown, almost black with a pen-width off white head and good retention.

S - Aroma is boozy bourbon, vanilla, woodsy oak, vanilla and chocolate.

T - Flavor is a nice balance of the aromas described above. Bourbon, toffee, vanilla and dark fruits round out the profile.

M - This one was nicely aged blending all the flavors together consistently. Full bodied and smooth with a low level of carbonation.

O - Was happy to see this on tap and was equally happy to knock back a few of these. A high quality RIS brought to you be the high quality Funky Buddha.

On tap at the Funky Buddha. Dark brown/black pour with an off white head. Aromas of oak and vanilla. A little thin in the body, but still a fantastic stout with chocolate malt, toffee, vanilla, and bourbon flavors. How stoked are we to have the Buddha right here in our back yard...

On draft at Funky Buddha.

Little creamy head around the glass and thin film on top, which stayed throughout. What a nose on this. Smells of oak, vanilla and bourbon perfectly balanced. Another BA hit it on the head with the "vanilla cream" taste. Lots of well balanced "up front" tastes, including bourbon, chocolate, oakiness and dark fruits. Just felt as if there was something missing in the back end/ after taste. Like a significant "drop" after so much up front. Hard to fully describe. Skates on the thin side for its style (RIS). I beleive this is at 10.2% ABV.

On draft at the buddha yesterday for the Wide Awake Its Morning release.

Very nice RIS by the buddha, as usual with all their beers. This bourbon oak aged RIS was a little thinner than most RIS i have had, but that didn't take anything away from the flavor at all, big beer this one. THe bourbon smell and flavor was present big time in this one, this stayed with me for a while yesterday, through the next beer or 2 i had. I think it was aged just the right amount of time, as the bourbon flavor was just right, some bourbon aged stouts are a bit much for me, but this one i liked a lot, probably going back to the buddah today for another 1

On draft at the Buddha. Super dark pour with a brown bubbly head. Aroma is boozy (bourbon), hints of vanilla, cream. Flavor is a little heavy on the tongue but once it warmed up a bit I got a good smokey flavor mixed with vanilla and chocolate. Quite an intense beer but a tasty one at that.

Special tap for the "Wide awake it's morning" release.

A: Pitch black. A nice wet sand color head appears and then fades to nothing. No lace to speak of.

A: Big roasted malts, bourbon, sweet vanilla, small caramel, and a slight earthy hop presence. Also get notes of fig, raisin, and maybe some dried cherry.

T: Taste is bourbon up front, followed by roast, then a vanilla and caramel sweetness. As the beer warms the flavors come out in full force, really need to let it mellow for a good 20 min. Good dose of alcohol and bitterness. It finishes dry and sweet.

M: Full body, creamy and smooth. carbonation is on the lower side, which makes the beer a touch oily.

O: Really good brew. The bourbon is not overpowering which is nice. I would really like to try the base beer with this side by side, because I think the base brew would be pretty soild. All in all, another great offering from the FB. Skal.
