750 mL bottle. Cork flies off with a little nudge. Pours with an enormous white head. Retains a fluffy pillow of foam. Smells of green apples. Doughy sweet malts. Tastes of green apples too, but with an earthy and spicy hop bite. Sweet doughy malts here too. Carbonic finish. Really high carbonation. Medium body. Not a delicate saison. Had an aggressive sweetness and bitterness.

750ml bottle into a tulip. 2017 release. Judging by other reviews, this one is 18-22 months old.
Pours a slightly dull pale golden yellow body with a massive foamy, bubbly white head leaving gobs of lacing. small slow carbonation bubbles.
Getting some apple, white wine, and yeast on the nose, with a very faint funk. Pleasing aroma.
Dry, slightly sour & bitter. Flavors manage to be both muted and lasting. There is a little fruit. As it warms, some sweetness comes through. Hard to evaluate the dry hopping effect at this age, but there is some bitterness.
Mouth around medium, finish slightly bitter & sour, which drops off as the drink warms.
Overall, a very nicely balanced and tasty brew. Good flavors which last. My first beer from this brewery. Looking forward to having more.

BFB is one of the best American producers of Saison and this may be my second favorite to Summer. Great hop character of spice and a little pine with some herbal character mixes well with the yeast pepper and light fruit. Subtle notes of malt and grain peak through as well. I need to find more bottles of this!

L: Pours straw yellow with big (three finger) white head cloudy
S: yeast citrus and herbal aroma with a little sweetness
T: Dry, light and wonderful taste on the tongue. Light on carbonation. Feels wonderful on the palate. Easy to drink and because the ABV is not crazy high you aren't getting hammered drinking it (like Saison was originally meant to be)
F: Light low carbonation and slightly dry feels wonderful
O: One of the best Saisons I've had. Usually when the ABV is low the quality is too, but not in this case. This is a fantastic beer. Highly recommend it

Poured into a Fremont small snifter. Pours a light to medium golden amber with a fine two finger white head with great retention and lacing. Aroma of grainy malt, grassy and floral hops, apple juice, herbal and mildly earthy; nice. Flavor follows, with grainy malt, saison yeast, dry grass, faint light stone fruit and lemon; earthy and lightly floral. Dry finish with lingering open air field flavors. Light to medium body with sharp peppery carbonation. A good farmhouse ales always remind me of drying fields in late summer and this one hits those high notes; dry crops and wildflowers, earth and fruit. Saisons are always a gamble for me, because I do not like the tart style of farmhouse ales, but these grainy saisons with rustic flavors are wonderful. The choice of hops here really enhances the other dry crop flavors. Very nicely done.

as always with these guys, the quality is perfectly on point, almost to the point that the recipe is less significant, like, the beer is so well made and the ingredients are so high quality that who cares how they are combined. what makes this cool is that they are combined so expertly too. the hops here are bitter and earthy and grassy with subtle lime and straw notes, its right on for the saison, and in many ways is more fitting than the new world hopped edition they also put out. i think a less juicy more bitter profile makes sense with the dry malt and i think the grassy instead of fruity is perfect with the yeast, which has some spice just like the hops. lively on the carbonation, very bitter, round and soft though, and right about as good as european style saison can be. i am always slow to buy these bottles because of the price, but every time i do, i am so thankful for the beer in my glass. these guys just dont miss, and have worked their way into the list of my favorite breweries in the country. this one is a little more old world and conventional, but its absolutely outstanding overall!

Drank from a 1 pint, 9.4 fluid oz corked and caged bottle purchased at Pemberton Farms, Cambridge, MA
Served in a tulip
The bottle opened with an exceptionally loud pop but luckily there was no gushing. The hazy, glowing yellow-amber liquid was topped by a billowing, bright white, meringue-like plume that slowly fell to a rocky head. Sea foam clumps of lacing stuck all along the glass. Specks of yeast could be seen in both the body and the crown.
The nose was amazingly rustic and authentic. Super crisp and fresh. There was a fantastic Belgian yeast character. Really powdery and dry. Spicy. Clove and coriander were definitely noticeable. Big grassy hop presence. Hint of sweetness too.
The flavor profile was similar to the nose but the dry hopping pushed things squarely into an American interpretation of the style. Nice bready pale malt base on the front end. Lots of Belgian-like yeastiness. Citrusy hop notes hit hard in the center. Some damp hay as well. Tons of lemon too. Super spicy. Again, clove and coriander were most apparent. More earthy and citrusy hop character on the finish. Fairly bitter. The spice notes intensified here as well.
Super light, crisp, frothy mouthfeel. The liquid contained an aggressive, larger bubbled effervescence that was lively and sprightly on the palate. A touch airy but perhaps appropriate for the style. With time, the carbonation settled to a more enjoyable level.
American breweries are great at producing many styles of beer, but few nail Belgians this well. This beer tastes incredibly authentic yet demonstrates a welcomed spin on the style. Really well done. I definitely plan to keep my eye out for more of Blackberry Farms's beers.
