This offering in our Native Series was brewed with select heritage barley and rye malts and fermented with a wild strain of native yeast harvested from honeysuckle blossoms found on Blackberry Farm’s 9,200 acre estate. A secondary fermentation with blackberries followed by additional aging in Tennessee whiskey barrels lends notes of dark fruit and oak to this medium bodied ale’s malt profile, accentuated by a mild tartness and earthy complexity from the wild native yeast.

375 mL bottle. Pours a deep amber with a big pillowy white head. Smells dynamic. A little of the fruit, whiskey, oak, heavily yeasty. Yeast lends some lemon, barnyard, and acidity. The malt profile doesn't scream rye, but it's a little bit sweeter smelling than other BFB saisons. Tastes bright, fruity, floral up front. Very slight tartness. The malt flavor is a little earthy and not as sweet as it smelled. The whiskey is barely noticeable and the oak just barely makes an appareance. High carbonation, kinda detracts. Subtle, but it works well.

12.7oz bottle poured into glass. No bottling date information found.
Peachy amber colored body. The body was clear until the last of the bottle was poured into the glass, which resulted in a murky body. Fizzy white cap and high ring. Some spots of lacing are left behind.
Aroma has some dark berry along with the yeast.
Taste has berry fruit, dark fruit, and lots of earthy, yeasty funk. Hop flavor and bitterness are minimal.
Light, effervescent mouth feel. Good carbonation. Dry yeast feel.
Well balanced farmhouse ale. Flavors blend well together. Easy to drink and refreshing.

The cork absolutely rocketed out of this bottle, but luckily the beer did not gush. It pours with a burnt orange color, with a large fluffy head, and lots of lacing.
This smells like oak, honey, clove, sharp funk, light blackberry, barnyard, and lemon.
The blackberry is super subtle here, almost indiscernible. There's lots of weird, dirty, and sharp funk- the house yeast character for Blackberry Farm is strange but wonderful. There's some light oak, and a nice honey sweetness as well.
This has a sharp feel to it, as it's pretty highly carbonated. It's very drinkable, though.
This is a fun beer- I wish there was more blackberry complexity, but what's here is quite nice.

Very earthen look, fairly opaque.
Nose is very subtle blueberry, raspberry, blackberry, and wood.
The berries definitely come through on the taste but don't over power it. Also get some sweetness, maybe like a strawberry, and oak.
Tart finish. Very light, crisp beer.

Pours a cloudy maize color. 1/4 inch head of an off-white color. Good retention and slight lacing. Smells of bacterial funk, slight alcohol, slight earthiness, sweet malt, caramel malt, hint of yeast, hint of clove, and fruit. Fits the style of a Saison / Farmhouse Ale. Mouth feel is sharp and crisp, with a high carbonation level. Tastes of bacterial funk, slight alcohol, slight earthiness, sweet malt, caramel malt, hint of yeast, clove, grass, hint of hop, and fruit. Overall, decent appearance, good aroma, body, and complexity.
