375 mL bottle. Clear golden. Not really any head. Smells of really strong red wine. Surprisingly heavy-handed from BBF. Heavy earthiness behind it. The slightest bit acidic smelling. Tastes very lightly tart. Vinous acidity. Strong red wine flavor behind it. A touch of astringency. Some dried grass. A bit yogurty in the finish. It's not an aggressive Brett character, but it lends a little bit of earth to the finish. Low carbonation, if not completely flat. It has a touch of oxidation to it. Very aggressive wine barrel throughout. It's not subtle, but I like it. Also, I probably sat on this too long. It's always on the verge of going very wrong, but still very good.

 

 

 

Bought a bottle at Craft Brewed while passing through Nashville.

A bit flat with little head or lacing, but a pleasant sweet funky smell and taste. Lemon and a bit of the red wine. I believe I would have liked this better a few months ago, but it is an enjoyable beer. Good with cheese and crackers!

 

Appearance: Pours a hazy honey color with not much foam rising above; minimal lacing

Smell: The Brett has blossomed and brings a funky barnyard tone with subtle hints of red wine grape, berry and apricot

Taste: Fruit tones hit the tip of the tongue, with apricot, berry and red wine grape emerging; funky and oaky, through the middle, with a peppery finish that brings a tart lemon aspect

Mouthfeel: Medium body with low carbonation

Overall: Surprised that the Brett didn't bring more carbonation but the flavor profile here is quite interesting and enjoyable

this has matured really well in just a few months in the bottle, far better now that it was even at the start of the year, the brett really evolving quite a lot and with a drier funkier rustic yeast element to it, a great beer now where i wasnt positive it would be before. from the pretty little bottle it pours an orange murky brassy color, without much head after the initial rush, even looking quite still eventually. the aroma and flavor are awesome though, tons of wood and sturdy red wine tannins and fruitiness, cherry and raspberry notes, sweet apricot, honey, and vanilla, and a richer, denser malt base than i expected this to have. i think its cool that this is unblended, we really get a good sense of what is going on in the barrel that way, as much oak here as there is wine, and a neat mix of yeasts, brett dominated but also some bacterial tartness and vinous saison character as well. its definitely got a lot of character, but would benefit from more carbonation keeping it swift, it stagnates and gets a little heavy. i really enjoy the flavors, and they linger long. cool wild beer, im sure it will continue to age nicely, i should have grabbed another bottle...

2017 bottle. Been wanting to try something from this brewery for a while. Figured this was a good introduction. Picked it up at Grassroots in Jax.

Brett really is the emphasis of this beer. The red wine barrel aging definitely mellows it out and adds a rich fruity character but the Brett adds that familiar funk and yeast and barn. A yeasty and funky finish with strong notes of wood and even some booze. Definitely a sipper, this was enjoyed with my gf after a weekend in Jax Beach.

Clear bright yellow without any head.
Nose is my favorite part of this beer, light acidity, big brett character, red wine notes.
Taste is light to medium acidity, light funk, big buttery oak/Brett texture, heavy on the wood side too much for me.
Texture is cool but the wood takes too much space in the beer, it gives a almost astringency/bitterness to the beer.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Interesting looking beer. could be awesome, could be bad, and anywhere in between.

Stopping the pour before the sediment washes out yields a clear golden honey color beer, a bit of sediment in there still but clear, no real head.

Nose brings nice lambic like funk, they must have used Brett L, tart fruit, bright acidity, a bit of Brett farmhouse funk but not quite horseblanket, a nice fruitiness almost berry like, a little vinous wine, an almost strawberry blackberry fruit thing going on.

Taste starts with some bright acidity up front, tart fruit again a fair sourness, again like a sour strawberry fruit interestingly, more Brett funk a little farmhouse funk, nice sour funk, quickly buttery oak kicks in as well, a mild vinous red wine but not much almost pinot noir like, a bit of a lemony sourness, and creamy wheat malt thing. Finish is a bit flemmy, more tart funk, a little acidic sourness, more strawberry and red wine lingering.

Mouth is med bod, a bit light on the carbonation though, fair acidity.

Overall really interesting beer, loved the fruit characters, wish the wine was a bit more but barrel was nice, and the Brett added some great flavors, carbonation was a bit light unfortunately, but all in all a great beer.
