We brewed this crisp and majestically hoppy lager with generous amounts of Mosaic and Nelson hops, yielding a beverage that’s at once fruity, dry, and outrageously drinkable, with gorgeous notes of white wine that pull the whole thing together marvelously. It’s a killer amalgamation of two distinctly tasty worlds, and we think you’re really going to dig it.

Glass: Modern Times 16-oz. Willi Becher glass
Price: $14.99 for a 4-pack
From: Modern Times Lomaland in Point Loma (San Diego), Calif.
Purchased: March 20, 2021; Picked up March 24, 2021
Consumed: March 25, 2021
Misc.: Canned on March 18, 2021
Ordered a 4-pack of this and two other lagers on a recent Modern Times release. The description was “We brewed this crisp and majestically hoppy lager with generous amounts of Mosaic and Nelson hops, yielding a beverage that’s at once fruity, dry, and outrageously drinkable, with gorgeous notes of white wine that pull the whole thing together marvelously. It’s a killer amalgamation of two distinctly tasty worlds, and we think you’re really going to dig it.” A lager with Mosaic and Nelson? Oh yeah!
Poured a clear light golden color with 2-to-3 fingers of frothy off-white head. Plenty of bubbles coming up from the bottom of the glass. World-class spotty lacing. Outstanding retention. (Sight - 4.50)
Smelled both Mosaic and Nelson right away. Also mixed berry, gooseberry, white grape, mango, papaya, wet grass and pilsner malt. Even a little better out of the can. (Smell - 4.00)
Taste was not quite as good as the nose, but still solid. In order got Mosaic, Nelson, bitter viney mixed berry, wet grass, pilsner malt, gooseberry, white grape, mango, papaya, peppery spice, soap and some pine. (Taste - 4.00)
Medium body. Thin texture. Lively carbonation. Abrupt, bitter finish. (Feel - 4.25)
Really liked this overall. Only complaint it was just a tad too bitter for a lager, even for a hoppy lager. Still outstanding. (Overall - 4.00)

Sweet and light honey malty, white wine grape, and slight hint of mosaic dank nose on this one! Taste follows with sweet and crisp light malts...and a balanced, hoppy lemon-citrus swallow. This finishes a tad dry, but it works as it keeps you coming back for more. This is just really refreshing and tasty...a great iteration of a hoppy lager!
