Typical of the style, the Bitch is a little bittersweet, dark gold with pronounced maltiness and a balanced hop flavor.

this is pretty old school craft beer to me, but its better executed than its scores here would indicate, even if the name is misleading since this really isnt bitter at all. its a pretty classic esb type, maybe slightly more hoppy than is traditional, but to me its pretty modest on the bitterness, more about english crystal malts here which give this a nice copper hue and a nutty and honey sweet aroma and flavor, a toasted warmth to this, which more than balances out the finishing hops, simple beer really, but all the elements contribute something appreciable and i like that in beers like this. there is a little sweetness in the middle of this, but it doesnt linger, and while the ferment brings it to the dry side, its not the cleanest overall, english yeast, a little doughy, full of minerals, but also maybe slightly soapy, and perhaps not as fresh as it could be, which brings the whole thing down a little bit, but the balance is there and the malt profile is right on for the style. overall this is a little pedestrian but not bad beer, definitely sessionable and rather authentically english. not my favorite in their body of work, but worthy still.

Brewed for 14th anniversary special.
Pour: Light red-amber color with one finger of off-white head that dissipates somewhat quickly and leaves a trace of lacing on the glass.
Smell: Sweet and malty, slightly fruity, and floral/earthy hops.
Taste: Almost identical to the smell. Starts off with a very sweet pale malt note which gives way into a big caramel malt taste. Small hint of fruit and yeast in the middle and finishes with a medium piney hop bitterness.
Mouthfeel: Light, crisp, and clean. Pretty high carbonation.
Drinkability: Extremely quenching and refreshing, quaffable.
Final Notes: Extremely well-balanced and a great session beer. Too bad it's only an anniversary beer, I really liked it.
