this is a new one from red leg, a saison brewed with lemon, and its one of the best beers i had there. radiant golden in color with a tall white head, looks too neat to be a saison with such a high degree of clarity. the nose suggests a more belgian yeast approach than anything truly farmhouse, but it works with the fresh acidity i get from the lemons. zesty and summery in the nose and taste, the lemon is obvious but not over flavored, i think the balance of the fruit and the esters in the yeast is on point. mild honey sweetness in the middle from a grain bill that seems to contain less wheat than most, and a longer yeast driven finish than is common. my one real complaint is that there isnt enough carbonation for the style, especially considering the heavier grain build on it, but the flavors are very good, and the recipe is unique. sort of a hybrid type beer, but a very sessionable and agreeable one. they should consider canning this one and making it a regular, it was definitely the most interesting beer on their menu!
