12 oz. bottle, no bottled on date present. ABV? No one seems to know, apparently. It isn't listed on Beer Advocate, and it isn't listed on the bottle. I have had this beer before in the Berghoff sampler pack and was unimpressed, but against my better judgement I decided to give it another go.

A - Semi-aggressive pour yields a dull flat cloudy lemon colored beer with virtually no head on top. Some bubbles rushing up the sides to the top.

S - Dull, chemically treated malts and other dusty chemical adjuncts. Smells pretty unappealing, even for a lager which is usually a pretty lame smelling brew. Definitely has some kind of artificial sweetness to it.

T - Dusty, chemically treated malts and corn husk flavor. Very overly carbonated body just leaves you feeling bloated. I'm not sure if I would choose this beer or some mass-marketed trill lagers like Miller Lite or Coors Light, if I had the choice. To be honest, I think I might enjoy the taste of a Coors Light with a lime squeezed into it, better than this beer. Carbonated, basically flavorless, and artificially too sweet. Almost has some kind of a cherry cough syrup / medicine taste to it.

M - Carbonated. Crackles on your tongue like pop rocks after you've sipped it down. I can't wait to wash down the sickeningly sweet artificial taste of this beer with something better.

Overall, a beer to try once and never again. I have had four different Berghoff beers now by Minhas brewery and they were all terrible. I guess I only bought this again so that I could review it here on Beer Advocate, and I will assuredly never buy this beer again. Avoid.

Semi cloudy looking in a glass.

Smells like a sweet, cheap beer.

The taste is reminiscent of a cheap malt liquor being way too sweet and no hoppiness whatsoever. Taste more like wort.

Mouthfeel isn't too bad if you plug your nose like you would as a kid trying to choke down cod liver oil. Even the feel is sickening sweet.

Overall this is a really bad beer and the fact that is available as a pick 6 along with beers from Bell's is ridiculous. 3 of 3 Berghoff beers have been duds for me. never again..

Acquired via trade from MilwaukeeCrusher, so a big “Thank You” goes out to him. Poured from a 12oz bottle into a US tumbler pint glass.

A: The beer is a light gold color, with a thin white head that fades slowly and leaves a thin lace on the glass.

S: The aroma contains light caramelized malts, grain, some lager yeast and a faint touch of hops.

T: The taste is bready up front with flavors of grain, lager yeast and a thin malt character. Then some mild malt sweetness comes in along with a very mild hops presence, but there isn’t a lot of balance. The after-taste is slightly bready and slightly sweet.

M: Crisp and a little smooth, light-to-medium body, medium carbonation, finish is slightly sticky.

D: Not very tasty, goes down ok, not too filling, mild kick, decent representation of style, there are certainly other beers in the style that I would choose first.

Appearance - Medium yellow. Hazy. Tall, fizzy, somewhat persistent white head.

Smell - Moderately strong pale malt. I'm not sure if this beer claims to be all-malt, but this smells a little corny.

Taste - Quite sweet pale malt. Falls on the cloying side. Little evidence of hops.

Mouthfeel - Light and crisp.

Overall - If this is an all-malt, it's one of the least impressive I've tried. If it's a macro, it's okay for a macro, but a little oversweet for me to enjoy more than one in a sitting.

Reviewed from session notes.

Medium dark straw color, with no hazing or turbidity at all, the same small white foam collar as all the other Berghoffs in the session so far. Smells like grains mixed with a simple earthen mustiness, otherwise quite clean and pleasant in aroma. Taste brings to mind a strange juxtaposition of semi-sweet pale malts mixed with an oddly flowery hopping that is sort of distracting in the finish with the way it pops out at you from the background of earthen hop tones. IMHO, it should have had some kind of mild citric peel hopping to even the flavors out somewhat, texture is medium thick, well carbonated, and that's about it for this one. A serviceable, if oddly hopped, brew.
