Drank from a 750 ml | 1pt. 9.4 fl. oz. bottle purchased on Tavour
10 Year Vintage
Served in a goblet
A fluffy, bubbly, finger-tall, bright white head with a subtle pinkish tinge topped the pinkish-tinged, clear amber colored body. The head quickly dropped to a thick, clingy, lasting collar. Some patchy lacing trickled down the sides of the glass after the first few sips. On the second pour, a bit of yeast sneaked into the liquid, clouding the body ever so slightly.
The aroma was impressive though fairly straightforward. Super crisp and bright. Dry, powdery yeasty notes were apparent initially, but they went away as the head dissolved. The resulting liquid was moderately tart and slightly funky. Bit of fruity sweetness. The raspberry presence was subtle but noticeable. Hint of dry oaky-ness. There was an interesting floral quality that reminded me of lavender and presented as somewhat soapy.
The flavor profile was similar to the nose but more acidic and not quite as interesting. Tart up front. Fairly acidic but not excessively so. Touch of raspberry. Lemon notes appeared in the center. Lots of crisp wheatiness as well. More tartness and acidity on the back end and the finish. There was a subtle dry, oaky barrel presence as well.
The mouthfeel was solid. Medium bodied for the style. The liquid contained a finely beaded, subtle effervescence gave the beer a nice fluffiness on the palate.
This was my first time trying a Side Project sour and, although enjoyable, it definitely did not live up to my expectations. For $50, I would much rather splurge on some type of fruit-infused lambic of gueuze by Drie Fonteinen, which would likely be far more interesting and complex.

750ml capped bottle into a Side Project snifter.
Pours a slightly cloudy ruby red. Spotty and stringy lace with a 0.5 finger coarse, white head. Nose is raspberry jam, oak, and a juicy sweetness. Lightly funky. Beer opens lightly acidic. Seedy raspberry. Light lemon zest, clean, lightly plastic funk. Juicy in the middle, accented tartness in the finish. Filmy, puckering finish. Body is light with ample carbonation. Prickly on the palate and goes down sticky, accented. Long, messy finish.
Clean, juicy, and plenty funky. This is really nice.
