Notes: For Derivation Blend #9, the blend consists of:
31% "Oats Recipe" - Our Imperial Oatmeal Stout recipe aged for 13 months in Rum Barrels
33% "O.W.K. Recipe" - Our Massive Imperial Stout recipe aged for 16 months in BLiS Maple Bourbon Barrels
36% "Maple Recipe" - Our Imperial Stout recipe with Maple Syrup added during fermentation and then aged for 13 months in a Cinnamon Whiskey Barrel and Willett Bourbon Barrel

These barrels were blended and then further infused with a thoughtful amount of freshly ground cinnamon and Vermont maple syrup at levels that provided a harmonious experience on the palate of cinnamon, maple, barrel roast, vanilla, almond, dark and milk chocolate, coffee, bourbon and caramelized rum.

Almost perfect. Tasted just like french toast with a richness that other cinnamon stouts like Prop '14 just can't deliver. Rich barrel flavors. Outstanding.

L: a thick and pitch black pour with short lived small head
S: maple jumps out the glass with the cinnamon right behind. Think cinnamon french toast with syrup
T: just like the nose. Thick liquid cinnamon french toast with syrup. It's sweet but the barrel makes it so damn good.
F: Very thick, coating and ultra smooth. No abv present like all derivations.

Shared with friends on 8-4-18. Poured pitch black with a dark mocha head, which is surprising coming from a Derivation beer. Smell bursts of cinnamon, with a bit of barrel in the background. Cinnamon flavor explodes on the palate, and fades into a sweeter finish. Knocking the overall score a bit, as I didn't get any maple from the beer.

Nose is amazing , as other have said not his thickest stout, but still thicker than most out there. Taste is maple up front with cinnamon on the end. Th is is a very good beer, but still prefer 5 and probably 6 as well.

Reviewed 1/3 of the way into a bottle.

Initial impression: probably the most adjuncty of the derivations. Pastry stout game on lock.

Can’t call the aroma anything other than French toast.

On the palate, The cinnamon and syrup are perfectly balanced. The rum is strong, but I’m a fan. Could take a little bit more roast or some chilis (which I felt like I perceived in d8 for some reason) to cut it. Aftertaste for days.

Feel is not as thick as other derivations, as an earlier reviewer noted. A lot more carb. Cory, have you been reading my previous reviews? Can I join your club? :)

New most to least favorite derivations list: 2, 8, 6, 1, 9, 5, 7, dB, 3 (wish I could taste this one again), 4, Apple brandy. Cheers!

Pours pitch black with brown khaki head. Dissipates into tan rink around glass. Wafts of maple and cinnamon on the nose. Taste is cinnamon, maple, chocolate, getting some rum notes and barrel. Full bodied, thick mouthfeel, although not quite has as thick as other SP stouts. Overall, this is an incredible stout, might best stout I’ve ever had. Incredibly enjoyable.

It’s perfect. Dark as night and smoother than chocolate milk. I’ve never tasted anything like it and I’m blown away by how smooth an drinkable it is.
