pours pitch black with dark tan swirls. smells of rich chocolate, bourbon, subtle smoke and dark fruits. taste is very similar with the chocolate and dark fruits combining for an amazing flavor punch with bourbon and smoke on the finish. feel is extremely full. overall, this was excellent. haven’t had Ruby but this and the VSOP are both much better than OG DB Derivation.

Quite a bit of smoke. Rich chocolate flavors, with a subtle sweetness in the background. Well balanced. Overall, another delicious offering.

Pour consumed during brewery 2nd Anniversary party. The double Barrel variants(can you even call them that?) are on par with the OG DBD(yes you can call them that, as Karen herself gave it such a connotation) in terms of pretty much everything. Incredibly, I was able to tell the difference between the 2. The finish of this beer leaves a trace feeling of actually drinking a Tawny Port.
