Unblended #41 is a single barrel of a barrel-fermented and barrel-aged Missouri Wild Ale that showcased characteristics that were too beautiful to lose in a blend. This Missouri Wild Ale was brewed with Pilsner and Wheat Malt and racked into a seasoned Chardonnay barrel (Barrel #41) on November 30th of 2016 with our native cultures and then allowed it to age until it showcased notes of over-ripened melon, papaya and passionfruit, then finished with a round Side Project acidity. Bottled May 15th of 2019.

Pours a clear orange with a white head that dissipated quickly. Nice amount of funk and wine barrel with a little bit of fruit on the nose. Taste has a similar profile with a nice tartness. Tremendous mouthfeel. Another excellent SP offering.

poured from a 375mL bottle into a stemmed wine glass. pours a burnt orange with a finger of white head that dissipates leaving a foam collar around the glass. aromas of barn funk, barrel must, wet oak, light pepper spice, white wine and a bit of fruitiness. flavors are similar with a funkiness and lemon taste followed by a spicy oak and white wine finish. this is subtly tart for Side Project. incredibly well balanced and integrated with a good base beer working with a good amount of time in a good barrel. a superbly full mouthfeel rounds out an incredible drinking experience. i can see why they didn’t want to this blended in with other barrels/beers. it stands up really well on its own.
