The barrel stock we tasted through to choose the 2019 BBT blend is the exact same stock that we pull from for the Derivations and all of our stouts. We have brewed 15 different stout recipes, aged them in a variety of barrels, and then always thoughtfully selected and blended to achieve our goals, whether it be Beer : Barrel : Time, a new blend of Derivation or the Barrel-Aged Stouts by Shared Brewing.
BBT 2019 consists of:
O.W.K. recipe aged in Willett Bourbon barrels for 21 months
O.W.K. recipe aged in Eagle Rare barrels for 21 months
Derivation Blend #3 recipe aged in Knob Creek barrels for 22 months
Derivation Blend #3 recipe aged in Knob Creek barrels for 28 months
Derivation Blend #2 recipe aged in Willett Bourbon barrels for 20 months

Stark black with a short mocha blanket dispersing to a flat collar that's creamy here and bubbly there.
Aroma is toasted, chocolate dipped marshmallow with a mild char while taste is more dry, nutty, dusty and spicy, with a slightly lighter feel than expected. Actually, it's fairly warming, hot even, and quite thin, with a dark fruit exhale at this point in time.
As the locals insisted, this is a huge step up over the original 2017 vintage. At the same time, it also served as an illustrative side by side with a rye barrel aged Dark Lord, particularly helping to level set with today's sweet palates compared to the perceived sweetness of DL, showing just how balanced Dark Lord is by today's absurd standards. These two beers were actually more alike than they were different, and it was difficult to choose the superior, ultimately siding with myself as the winner. It's all the more fitting we've come full circle together next to another Dark Lord, considering my first dance with a BBT was at DLD.
That said, my memory of Continuance b1 is a hair above how I feel I enjoyed this, so I'll see that my rating reflect the same.

The beer pours out super dark and viscous! The smell is bourbon soaked brownie batter. The beer coats your mouth and is an expulsion of barrel, creaminess, and chocolate. Love this beer!

We love reviews (150 characters or more)! Check out: How to Review a Beer. You don't need to get fancy. Drop some thoughts on the beer's attributes (look, smell, taste, feel) plus your overall impression. Something that backs up your rating and helps others. Thanks!
