O.W.K. stout recipe aged in Willett 6-year bourbon barrels for 12 months, then finished in Willett 18-year Family Estate bourbon barrels. We added Tanzanian vanilla beans in the Willett 18-year Family Estate bourbon barrels and then finished the beer on additional Tanzanian vanilla beans at packaging.

poured from a 375 bottle into a snifter. pours pitch black, no foam. stains the glass. huge whiskey, chocolate and vanilla on the nose and taste. the vanilla works well with the chocolaty base stout and helps to mute the over the top barrel. thick, full mouthfeel. this was my favorite of the 3. decadent and rich but so damn good. i kind of balked at the smaller format bottles when these were originally released but in all honesty, these beers are perfect split 3 ways. the higher abv and intense barrel makes me think it could be a little bit of a chore to get down a full bottle (although i could definitely do it, but it was much more fun to try all 3 instead).

So much vanilla. Look was jet black, viscous, glass staining. Taste was very similar to Derivation 13, pillowy marshmallow vanilla , reminiscent of fresh VR or Handjee 16 - but a touch more subtle. Very rich. Smell was mainly vanilla and bourbon.
