We aged our Derivation #2 recipe (wheated imperial stout) for 46 months in a California brandy barrel, and then finished it in a California ruby port barrel for 11 months.

look: 4.75 | smell: 4.5 | taste: 4.5 | feel: 4.75 | overall: 4.5
poured from a 375mL bottle into a stemless wine glass. pours a thick inky black with no foam. stains the glass with legs running down. kind of smokey, almost peaty with dark fruits and a hint of chocolate. taste is a little smoother chocolate with a brandy finish. not as much port as i expected and i’m not complaining. thick, chewy mouthfeel. good stuff.
