Aged for 32 months in Weller bourbon barrels, which we added Mexican vanilla beans to, then finished for 6 months in vanilla extract former bourbon barrels. We added Vanuatu vanilla beans and vanillin. This beer tops out at just over 5lbs per barrel of vanilla and comes in at 11.5%.

All vanilla on the nose. The palate is distinctly different, with a surprisingly solid barrel character. Oak, chocolate, bourbon flavors. Vanilla takes a backseat. Really enjoyed this with temp.

2022 vintage (released on 3/4/2022); consumed on 12/14/2022
Pours a viscous black silk, with zero hope of head forming atop a seemingly still surface, stark and void of any cap, collar, or lacing; some legs do trickle intermittently down the walls of the glass.
Aromas rife with vanilla cake batter sport a limited sensation of underlying dark fruits, while a burgeoning undertone of coconut creme pie eases to milk chocolate contrasted with subtler chocolate wafer, caramel, and hints of oak.
Taste offers roasty cacao against a tannic dark fruit inflection upfront, leaving lush vanilla beans filtered through prickly roast over the mid-palate as tangy bourbon on the back end fades to a dark chocolate finish.
Mouthfeel brings a full body and virtually no carbonation, resulting in creamy textures to contrast a soft barrel astringency feeding into warmth past the mid-palate; a vague pseudo-char on the back end finds wispy booziness through the swallow.
Angry Chair, true to form: a visceral and direct experience with unbridled adjuncting; indulgence backfires a bit here, as the profile itself remains underdeveloped, though the overall presentation attenuates sweetness to a largely enjoyable, fun sweet stout.

Bottle. Black oil color. Tan head.
Tons of tannins and dark dried fruits. Big vanilla. Chocolate and fudge. Wet oak. Whiskey in the finish. Figs and molasses.
Full bodied but not super thick.
Honestly, the excessive tannins and fruit made this not as enjoyable as I’d like. Still pretty solid.

Ooured a black body with minimal head and no lace. Aroma comes across mainly as booze and vanilla. Smooth beer yet thick with a slightly boozy and vanilla ice cream taste. Booze is well-hidden and this beer is worth trying.

This beer is a wild roller coaster. Super woody barrel easily intermingles with tons of vanilla. The oakiness then becomes herbal and smoky, but then brownie batter smacks you in the face as the slick, silky body is adjusted by a bubbly, thin carbonation that finishes almost tongue scratchingly dry. Hot chocolate and a rye whiskey or even spiced rum exhale brings out Tootsie Roll in this super warming beer.

2018 bottle, which is better than draft version.
Black as sin. Smells like vanilla and chocolate. Tastes like a lot of vanilla with some chocolate in the back. It is very thiccc. Not alcoholic at all. Very good and not too sweet like some of their other beers.
