Notes: Imperial sweet stout with hand roasted peanuts, Haitian cacao nibs, Madagascar vanilla beans and those little black and white cookies with a four letter name that you can find at the grocery store.

Canned on 9/11/20; consumed on 10/26/20

Pours a used motor oil black body capped with a half-finger of creamy, hazelnut-hued foam; decent head retention leaves vague islands of cap along with a firm, frothy collar and dense, almost chunky rings of lacing rounding the walls of the glass.

Aroma opens with chocolate wafer (that familiar Oreo cookie) followed by a deepening milky fudge developing into fresh cake batter; vanilla bean evolves over time with the richness of cake frosting before earthy peanut butter edges become increasingly silky and robust to close out the bouquet.

Taste again brings that familiar chocolate wafer to the forefront, this time with vanilla frosting more apparent into a mid-palate where dark malts linger far off in the background and hazelnut, along with hints of coffee grounds, guide toward a nutty peanut butter finish.

Mouthfeel offers a moderate-full body with a lower end carbonation into an oily slickness with underlying malty char on the mid-palate; a rounded, gritty sweetness dries out just shy of a syrupy texture into the back end and maintains an even character through the finish with minimal alcohol presence and only a mildly cloying quality.

A steady achievement in its more dessert-styled aspects, where the beer manages to avoid becoming unbearably cloying while still projecting its sweeter adjuncts effectively; a fun, enjoyable offering carried by the decadent tendencies of its otherwise lighthearted and straightforward inspiration.

Solid head production; decent retention. No floaties or sediment.

Aroma is an absolute Reese's peanut butter cup in a glass. Tons of chocolate and cocoa, wafting over from a distance, but up close the peanut butter really shines. Any cream and vanilla is almost overwhelmed by the richness of peanuts and chocolate.

Flavor follows, even the same order: it's chocolate and cream up front, but the peanut influence grows throughout the entire sip, reaching a fever pitch around mid-sip. The back third and through the aftertaste, powdered cocoa and peanut butter tones will vie for dominance back and forth.

Thick, smooth; almost no hint of alcohol; chewy.

Canned 9/11/20; poured from 16oz can at 54 degrees; black with ruby edges; dark tan foam; ok cap retention; solid ring; soapy lace that sheets the glass; thin legs. Strong long lasting peanut butter nose, followed by chocolate and vanilla. Peanut butter up front on entry; Oreo Cookie; vanilla, sweet chocolate milk; chocolate fudge middle; peanut butter finish. Creamy rich heavy minus body; smooth velvety feel that’s not syrupy or adjuncty; moderate minus carbonation; slight warmth from 10.5% abv. An awesome lux sipper; tastes like an Oreo cookie smashed into a Reese’s Peanut Butter Cup; delicious!
