Bought two 12 ounce cans from Beer Drop. What a creative brew ! Refreshing and thoughtful. Three points.
First, this saison is a part of a French Ex-Pat Series. Diebolt story is the founder's ancestors were from the French brewing region; which explains why they are one of the few micros to specialize in the biere de garde; a style that would be nearly dead were it not for North American micros. It's not clear to me which of Diebolt's five brews that I had are in that Series, but this is the first saison.
Second, creative ingredients. Jackfruit is huge, multi-flavored; probably like a fruit cup. Galangal is a ginger substitute in the southeast Asian kitchen and offers a penetrating spicing that, obviously, is not bitter and dries my mouth nicely. FYI, Cambodge Soir was the French speaking paper edited in Phnom Penh... circling back to this Ex-Pat Series.
Third, this was a gentle accompaniment to summer fare of ratatouille and salad. In remaking this recipe, I could see add a few more hops to tame the jackfruit's many flavors.
8/12/21 Had the second can. I edited the review, but I see no good reason to change the rating. This sort of creativity is hard to pull off in by a micro less than a decade old. I'm keeping count @ Untappd.

We love reviews (150 characters or more)! Check out: How to Review a Beer. You don't need to get fancy. Drop some thoughts on the beer's attributes (look, smell, taste, feel) plus your overall impression. Something that backs up your rating and helps others. Thanks!
