Lupulin Amnesiac is a double IPA with zero kettle hops. Instead, we piled in crazy amounts of Galaxy and Denali during active fermentation and in the dry hop to create huge passionfruit, pineapple, and peach flavors and aromas.

16oz can. Poured out a clear, golden orange color with a small, off-white head of foam. It left sticky rings of lace on the glass. It smelled of grapefruit, mango, orange, resinous pine and sweet caramel. Big tropical fruit taste with a sharp piney bitterness. Toasted caramel and toffee backbone.

CAN:
8.5% ABV. Hops: Galaxy, Citra, Sultana, Mosaic. Malts: 2-row, spelt, golden promise, golden naked oats. "Zero IBU hazy double India Pale Ale."
APPEARANCE is poor. Has a dull orange body that looks lifeless and limp. Head is off-white and retains pretty well (~6-8 minutes).
AROMA: Melon. Warm tropical fruit. Pineapple.
The spelt seems a bit raw judging by the aroma. Possibly underattenuated.
TASTE & TEXTURE: Lacklustre. Muted melon, lifeless tropical fruit, faint yogurt, underattenuated spelt...why use spelt instead of wheat?
Citra and Mosaic have never been so wasted in combination. Galaxy's passionfruit is absent. Hop profile is underwhelming.
Smooth, wet, medium-bodied, unrefreshing, well carbonated.
OVERALL: A drinkable attempt at an IIPA, but boy does this fall short of where the bar is in this style nowadays. Swing a dead cat in Colorado and you'll hit a better IIPA. Far from Odd13's best.

Built on the backs of Denali and Galaxy hops, the translation of "smooth" bitterness here translates to low bitterness; designed to amplify hoppiness without actually creating an excessively bitter beer. Odd 13 is certainly on a quest to make a bitterless IPA.
Lupulin Amnesiac is a hoppy beer that forgets its way, arriving at a strongly herbal, grassy and fragrant woods scent that rises above a hazy lemon body and a creamy white cap. Light and doughy sweetness is faintly of hard candy, fresh baking bread and a kiss of honeysuckle.
As the middle palate transpires, the beer's flavors extend from a botanical perfume and into a fruit filled center with passionfruit, lemon, white grapefruit, apricot and peach. Trending tangy and modestly bitter for an IPA, the beer's quick finish comes with herbal spices of sun tea, sassafras, cedar and fresh grass clippings.
Medium bodied and trending dry, the beer's imperial strength is deceptively dry and drinkable, teasing the late palate with hints of white wine, green berries and a glimpse of geranium in a medium length echo and a freshly shaven pine bitterness to close.

Thanks, Nick!
Huge thanks to Nick for giving Adam some awesome Odd13 to give to Chad and I at recent bottleshare. Can read, “Lupulin Amnesiac is a Double IPA with zero kettle hops. Instead we piled in crazy amounts of Galaxy and Denali during active fermentation and in the dry hop to create huge passionfruit, pineapple and peach flavors and aromas. The result is a super juicy Double IPA.” Super interested in a zero-hop DIPA. Galaxy is hit and miss for me, while the little I’d had of Denali had just been OK.
Poured a hazy straw-to-pale color with 2-to-3 fingers of frothy white head. Lots of bubbles coming up from the bottom of the glass. Very good lacing. Outstanding retention. (Sight - 4.00)
Smelled garbage, spoiled rotten fruit, pineapple, stone fruit, peach, apricot and hints of grapefruit. Late through the garbage-like whiffs got some passionfruit, papaya and mango. Did not get any specific hops in the nose. (Smell - 3.50)
Taste was a little better than the nose. Not as much trash and garbage, and more hops. Got those oily Denali hops up front. Also pineapple, peach, stone fruit, earthy grapefruit rind, papaya, bitter mango peel, Galaxy, apricot, citrus zest and some soapy notes. (Taste - 3.50)
Medium body. Oily texture. Average carbonation. Dry finish. (Feel - 3.75)
Overall, this was a good New England Style beer. Grew on me as it went down. Bumped up to 3.75 from 3.50. (Overall - 3.75)
