a hazy india pale lager done in collaboration with boxing bear. its a really neat beer, not sure i have seen a hazy ipl yet, and at such a low abv and finishing dryness, this one is a perfect session beer, one of my favorites i had when i was at the brewery yesterday evening! its golden straw colored, hazy but still bright in the glass, with a full inch of white head from the tap, nice lace left behind each sip. smells amazing, not sure what the hops are, but i get a really cool fresh fruity complexion with everything from pineapple to kiwi, but its not over dry hopped, instead a balance, with some bitterness too in the flavor, a more conventional citrus wash in the middle, and enough flavor from the malt and also the lager yeast that it presents itself as balanced, even though its real hoppy throughout. it has a golden maltiness that gives body and a honey note, but stays delicate and largely out of the way. the lager yeast contributes more than i thought it might, and not only makes this fast finishing but adds a cool crackery layer to the flavor. hops are oily and fresh and bright, have some linger on the tongue, and make this quite distinctive. a really well done beer, i love how low alcohol it is, and its another success on the hoppy side for odd13, who really is one of the best in the state at this sort of thing. yum!
