3/15/16 on tap at 12 South Taproom. Look: Appropriate deep amber, which is ok for Quads but I thought it would be darker after barrage aging, which has removed all head. Smell is similar to taste, which is boozy, moderate malt on palate, sweet malty boozy , low bitterness. Mouthfeel is smooth, sweet and boozy. Body is very light for style. Overall this really needed to be a more complex and richer beer to keep up with the added boozy barrel aging. I like barrel aging if it smooths out a beer, but this got too boozy and probably started too sweet. However, I would order again if conditions warranted, maybe as a bourbon chaser!

Incredible. May very well be the best American made Quad I've had. Now I may be a little bias since I live in the town it's made in, but it is an incredible quad on tap at the brewery tasting room. It lives in the same realm as Chimay.

Part of the "Barrel Aged Series," bottled with labels depicting an apparently naked lady in a barrel, Lazarus - Barrel Aged was released in November 2015 in gold wax-capped, plastic-labeled 22-oz. bombers. Had in October 2015 at The Manship, Jackson, Mississippi, Grapes vs. Grains dinner poured from like bomber into tumbler, and later poured from like bomber into tulip.
Some of the subtler flavors of the regular Lazarus are hidden by the bourbon, but the barrel-aging is still very complementary to the original beer.
