Pours deep chestnut brown color will look black in a darker room. Nice two finger tan head falls fast some light lace only.
Aroma is light dark fruits, maybe touches of peat, some light tartness and light wet horse blanket saison notes with a dash of pepper corn or is it touches of cinnamon nutmeg. Smells like a mixture of Saison and Schwarzbier.
Taste is kind of like the nose maybe not as good. Some lighter dark fruit notes, light spices from the yeast peat or coco hints lightly dry. Not much funk or or barn yard flavors. Not sure if I have had many dark Saisons this one is enjoyable enough beer just needs more Saison notes or more darkness or something.
Mouthfeel is light with carbonation that is a little peppier then medium.
Overall not bad its drinkable enough maybe not something to write home about but not bad.

Had Dark Saison on draft at the SoPro Taproom into tulip, and also poured from 12-oz. can into tulip.
This rare example of a dark Saison is, obviously, different, but more different than one would think. As with SoPro's Sinister Minister Black IPA, the surprising color indicates a challenge to your palate's expectations. At 4.30 ABV, this limited release is an amuse-bouche of a beer.

Dark, rich brown with gold highlights. Rocky tan cap and moderate lacing.
Aroma of dark, ripe fruit, red plums I think, with hops on the back end.
Flavor is rich without being intense, it's definitely in the Farmhouse orbit. It doesn't really taste of fruit, just that impression which may be due to the Belgian yeast. None of the clove or other spices usually associated with that yeast, nor malt flavor really. Some earthy, herbal touches with hops (El Dorado only) peaking up only now and then. Some bread elements as well which I suppose are due to the Belgian and French Saison yeasts used. Clean finish with no surprises in the aftertaste, just a rounding off of the previous flavors.
Creamy full texture.
Much richer and heavier than the 4.3% would imply. Again, showing that low alcohol and big flavor can go hand in hand.
