A collaboration with Perfect Plain, The Norns—named after Norse mythological female beings who create and control fate—is a rustic wheat-based golden ale, fermented with a kveik Scandinavian farmhouse yeast, with orange peel added to the whirlpool, and blackberry and cinnamon added after fermentation. A truly unique creation.

A collaboration with Perfect Plain, The Norns was a SoPro Taproom-only release on draft and in pint can 4-pks. at the SoPro Taproom Art Show in September 2019. Had poured from pint can, bottom stamped (apparently) canned on “09/05/19,” into tulip.
The brewery calls this a “truly unique creation,” and certainly I have never had anything remotely like this “Norwegian kveik farmhouse ale.”
Pours opaque mulberry or reddish-purple, with 1-finger pink head that doesn’t stick around or leave much lace. Aroma out of the can is huge fresh oranges, with a big continuing aroma of orange juice, Blackberry, cracker malt, and a hint of cinnamon in back. On drinking, the orange peel registers as acidic sour bite up front, followed by a nice cracker malt base and mild blackberry before a refreshing, mildly tart, fruity finish.
