a saison with a whole heap of apricot in it. i like it being fruited, as the base beer seems kind of plain for the style. not bland or anything, but just less interesting than others, pils type malt and a light wheat, thats about it. the yeast is more of a belgian thing than anything funky or rustic, generic fruity but not crazy on the esters, and without the added fruit, this might be sort of one dimensional, which is not a desirable trait in a saison, at least for me. the apricot smells great, really ripe and fuzzy and true, a little sweet, but thats needed, and its nice with the dry wheat. the flavor is a little less pronounced with the fruit, still fresh and authentic tasting to me, but its not as prominent as it is in the nose, although i do think they got the dose right. the apricots are sweet and they linger longer than any other element, but it tastes summery to me, and i had no problem with a glass of this. a rather mild beer overall, and a saison style that should have wide appeal, even for those not normally into saisons, its real approachable and more fruit driven than yeast driven.
