easily my favorite beer these guys have done so far. deep saturated pink, almost purple in color, without a ton of head, but the color captivates me. hibiscus is often so perfume heavy, floral to the absolute max, like drinking a bottle of lotion rather than a beer, but its not like that here. we somehow get all the flavor of the flower, without any of that almost astringent pungency that makes a lot of these not worth drinking. for me the jury is still out a little bit on the base saison, the yeast doesnt have a lot of flavor to it, or maybe its too delicate for the hibiscus flavor burst, but its not really there. the wheat base is nice, and there is a lot of body as well. decent bubbles despite not holding a head in the glass, and quite dry for what it is, which i like a lot. its got a cool hop profile as well, that seems to do unique things with the hibiscus. this is a really unique use of this ingredient, heavy handed but manifesting itself much differently than i am used to. nice to see these guys getting away from the average hoppy belgian styles, this is excellent and original.
