750 ml bottle into a tulip glass. Have also had on tap.
Pours an amber color, with a slight purple tinge. Two finger head, with some foamy cling. Hazy. Smell is yeast, apricot, light malt, some berry, a little black pepper. Taste brings yeast, light malt, apricot, oak, some vanilla, some berry. Fair amount of bitterness, less over time. Solid body, appropriate carbonation, but it's a little harsh.
Blackberries could have a stronger presence, but overall this is well blended and flavorful. Worth a purchase.

Thanks for the extra, Sonofalime!
3/5: A bit too weird tasting, but at least it retains the light, deceptive dryness I expect from a LCCB brew

A beer that had a lot of promise, and some nice aspects, but ultimately falls short of its potential. It would be interesting to see this tried again in the future, however.
The beer pours an appealing, cloudy purple/pink color. The aroma presents the saison yeast, as well as a strange musty, animal hair character. The taste has nice aspects of the fruits used, fruit skins, apple, vanilla oak character, but is ultimately dragged down by the booziness and overbearing yeast character. I like saisons, but the yeast here just doesn't taste quite right. The mouthfeel is pretty pleasant, with some medium/low carbonation, and a medium body. Overall, not totally happy with this beer. The seventeen dollar price point is understandable, for the fruit and barrels, but it just does not justify the subpar quality of this beer. Better luck next time, y'all.

Appearance: pours a burnt orange color. a finger or two of a white to off white heady that has good retention and leaves behind a small lacing. completely hazy and opaque.
Smell: musty, oaky and a little bit fruity. slight vinegar and possibly some alcohol on the nose.
Taste: opens up with strong oak flavors. opens up with some musty and earthy flavors. fruity flavors are slightly tart and hard to pick out a specific fruit. I can see some apricot come through along with some berry though. backend has a light acetic acid and more cellar must.
Mouthfeel: medium bodied. sticky and lingering. lowish carbonation.
Overall: the flavor is just slightly off in the balance and I can't quite pick up why. The flavors seem kind of young but at the same time the funky and musty flavors seem quite old. the fruit definitely need a bit more development so could have used a bit more time or more fruit. also the oaky flavors shift the balance to something just shy of what I would look for. I would definitely sit on the bottle for a while before drinking it as it could use some additional time.

On tap at brewery:
Pours a faded amber, which if you didn't know it was a berry-saison might be a it off. The barrel might also have some influence. What is also deceiving at first look is the carbonation, light at the edges but simply grabbing the glass brings a little froth.
Nose is about strange - grainy in a cereal sense; light fruit notes, leaning towards tart; and then an almost mint like note. With a little warmth I think the mint is actually a strange effect of the other notes combined with the wood barrel - which is probably a little to prevalent.
No huge surprises in the taste as the notes from the nose are all there. The berry and fruit hit up front a little more than expected from the nose, which is good. The cereal notes are muted due to this. The wood balances the fruit mid-taste and finally takes over in the end.
Carbonation is decent and adds a light tingling feel before the dry wood feel ends the taste.
Pretty much an ok beverage. Would've liked it maybe without the barrel, I'm not sure it added anything and might have detracted. Or possibly had they gone for a souring agent to counter it.
