Notes:
This oatmeal stout has all the roasted, toasted, warm you from the inside out dark malt flavor in a 5.7% light, dry, and highly crushable body. Aromas of fresh ground coffee, toasted rye bread, and molasses make way for crisp flavors of bittersweet baking chocolate with a lingering roasted bitterness in the finish.

Dark chocolate color with 3F head.
Lots of roasted malt in the aroma, some chocolate.
Smooth MF.
Roasted malt taste.
Overall: I prefer another approach to an Oatmeal Stout. There’s too much roasted malt in the flavor.
This detracts from the flavor which should be more smoother.

Canned 2/03/20
Pours a large tan foamy frothy head with good retention, decent lacing, jet black color
Nose brings black malts, a bit roasty and toasty, hint of char but not acrid, a bit of coffee and some dark chocolate, hint of caramel, some creamy flaked oats and chocolate oatmeal, coffee and dark chocolate increasing as it warms
Taste starts with roasted malts, black malts, some char and bitter roast that borders acrid but doesn't quite get there, inky black malts, cocoa and dark chocolate, roasted coffee notes, creamy flaked oats, bitterness from the roast and mild spicy hops, smooth and rich, big coffee roast center, finishes quite bitter with spicy hops taking over and a touch of astringent spicy bitterness
Mouth is med to fuller bod, rich creamy oatmeal, med carb, touch of astringency
Overall not bad, nice basic oatmeal stout up front, but gets a bit too spicy roasty bitterness on the finish

This one pours a dark black color, with big fluffy head, and lots of lacing.
This smells very roasty, with dark chocolate, smoke, and heavily burnt coffee.
I wanted to like this a bit more than I did. It feels extremely thin, with a possibly too heavy roast character. It's astringent, with basically no sweetness. If the body was fuller, the bitterness would certainly have less of an overly astringent feel to it.
As mentioned aboe, this is very thin, with a wispy and smoky bitterness on the back end that hinders the drinkability.
This is not as good as I would have wanted it to be, unfortunately.

On tap at Sapsuckers, pours black as night with a 2 finger thick tan head that faded slowly and left decent spotty lacing. Smells and tasted of burnt coffee grinds, charred wood, toasted grains, dark chocolate, cocoa powder, rye bread toast, piney hops, light peppery spices and oats. Very smooth with a mild bitterness, a thin mouthfeel and then trailing cocoa and burnt coffee. It’s a dry finish that reminds me of a good cup of a bold coffee.

1st Review. Added by Act25.
a) best looking glass - lace, shards, lasting khaki head over a black body.
s) roast, wood, oatmeal, fire, herbal cabinet.
t) Continues these subtle flavors in a smooth blanket.
f) Smooth, but thinner lighter, dry roast body.
o) Classic oatmeal dry stout. Among the best.
Thrilled to be adding artisanal brew.
