Very Good
Notes: Schlaumeier (“smart aleck”) is a flavorful straw-colored Bavarian specialty wheat ale. Yeast-driven notes of banana and clove define this traditional delicacy.

Pours a hazy golden. It's not cloudy or on the verge of murky like certain hefes (Weihenstephaner). A touch of clove couple with some overripe banana on the nose. It's very banana forward and drying. There's a bready background, but it's also light and refreshing. Good for a warmer day.

At the taproom. Delicious, spot-on version of the style. Light but rich in flavor, perfectly carbonated, and easy-drinking. One of the last styles that I reach for but I knew it would be awesome coming from this brewery.

look - super light translucent looks like a market watered down beer
Smell - straight up dried bananas
Taste - a little bit of clove in the beginning but a lot of banana aftertaste
Feel - medium carbonation and pretty light wife thinks medium, we agree to medium light
Overall - pretty great hefe but could use more body

Hazy deep yellow color with a decent sized bubbly white head that slowly recedes. Big banana and moderate bubble gum on the nose with a light spice to counter. Very tasty, fantastic hefe.

L: Cloudy, golden hue. Nice head, nice lace. Very attractive beer.
S: Tons of banana and clove, bread, dough. Pretty spot on. Nice grainy nose as well, lots of toasty malts.
T: Repeat of the nose. Actually had a lot of peppery phenols as well, not detected on the nose. Much more than continental hefes I've had. Made the beer more crisp, which was really interesting. Tastes great, just the right amount of sweetness and complexity from esters. Tastes like toasty banana bread
F: Full body, yet light enough to make it an easy summertime drink. Well carbonated.
O: Great hefe that if you brought me a bottle of, would have a hard time guessing was brewed in the United States. I feel domestic hefeweizens always fall short, yet this one absolutely nailed it!
