Canned on '100919.'
This was poured into a tulip.
The appearance was a semi-bright yet burnt yellow/orange color with a small white foamy head falling off nicely. Some speckled lace graced the top of my glass.
The aroma punched in a keen peppercorn semi-spicy sweetness rounding out with some grassy hops, lemongrass, some wheat grains (guess that's the triticale) and rustic sweet leafiness.
The flavor leaned slightly towards the sweet malty grainy wheat but allowed that peppercorn mildly to join in on the fun and end leaving a mild aftertaste of peppercorn, grainy wheat and a little bit of Belgian yeast.
The mouthfeel was about medium bodied with a sure fine sessionability. Good carbonation and unyielding smoothness (which I think Schilling was going for). Semi-sticky finish with some lemon pulp, sweet wheaty grains and soothing grassy leafiness.
Overall, Schilling, yup, they nailed it and what a wonderful way of using some triticale (nice to see a brewer out there using this correctly).

Can. Golden orange slight haze ring and island. Earthy herbal spice and pepper aroma. fruity malt sweetness with spicy mild finish. Medium light body soft carb a little flat for style IMHO. I thought it had hibiscus or something but it's some kind of rye-ish malt. Very good.
