A throwback to the original Vienna lager recipes of the 1840s, our take – a markedly paler version than many modern examples – showcases the classic Vienna malt. Volksgarten is characterized by aromas of honey and biscuit, subtle toasted almond character on the tongue, and a complimentary spicy herbal hop note from the Czech Saaz.

16 oz can
Pours a clear amber gold color with a sudsy white head. Head dissipates quickly. Leaves some patchy lacing.
Aromas of fresh biscuits, caramel, grass and spicy hops.
Taste has loads of doughy malt and honey, as well as caramel and a spicy hop finish. Slightly nutty.
Medium bodied with good carbonation. Smooth and creamy with a moderately dry finish.
This is a good vienna lager. Nicely balanced between the sweeter malt character and herbal hops. Drinkable and refreshing.

(16 oz can, 022526; purchased cold single at Pinocchio's yesterday... poured into a Tubinger mug)
L: spotlessly-clean glass, but the foam fizzes away upon pour; brassy amber liquid, brilliant clarity... a hazy collar is all that lingered; no lace... very curious
S: toasty caramel cookie aroma, with a hint of spice... some doughy and earthy green notes slowly emerge... subtle flicker of bubblegum?... overall rather intense and with some dynamic definition... as the palate becomes drenched and distracting, the toasted grain and crystalline sugar scents stay intact in top notes
T: toasty hard pretzel graininess with a degree of underlying crystal-malty sweetness that provides a terrific contrast, giving depth to its dimension... slightly lemon pithy (on lemon drop), spicy hop thread throughout, blooming in the finish... the malt profile fills in and out sip over sip, getting more bread crusty, while some grassy, earthy hop/barley essences develop... a bit minerally-salty in the aftertaste, a (perceived) feature of many of their lagers, which seems to enhance the sense of dryness... bit of a subtle apricot note late hmm
F: mildly viscous, oily texture at the start, slowly drying out and gaining a sense of dry heat with the decoction artefacts, hop spice, and clean alcohol cutting a vacous drop at the back of the palate... the inner jowls retain a touch of stickiness... firmly medium bodied, perhaps leaning slightly light only because of the stark contrast of the aft... electrifying. livening
O: another banger... has the basic requisite Vienna lager flavor profile, but more jagged and loud in its expression, not getting bogged down with overly doughy or decaying malt character... tastes fresh and vibrant; would love to have another (2544)

Clear amber color with a medium-sized white head. The aroma brings toasted malt, soft fruit notes, and a touch of honey. The taste is malty and crisp, with moderated bitterness and a hint of astringency on the finish. Well executed and true to the style

Picked up a 16 oz can on 4-12-25 from the Hot Spot gas station cooler on NC-191 for $3.99. No canning date; consumed 5-16-25. Cold stored since purchase.
Beer poured golden amber with a nice white head with the original pour.
Nose is toasted malts and earthy hops.
Taste follows the nose as the caramelized malts gives a wonderful, toasted bread base. Hopping is spot on as any glimmer of sweetness is perfectly balanced out. Finishes with a wonderful bread with a touch of apple in my post sip aspirations.
Mouthfeel is light to medium bodied and very soft and smooth but refreshing as well.
Overall, a great tasting brew, well done!

This is an outstanding Vienna. Flavors are graham cracker crust with a buttery smooth balance of earthy, spicy, floral hop bite. Sweetness is delicate and not overwhelming whatsoever. Carbonation is vibrant yet soft enough to increase what is already a drinkable beer. Executed flawlessly in my estimation.

Poured from 16oz can into a dimpled mug. Canned 1/15/25.
Appearance: lovely golden hue with a clear body and a finger of frothy ivory foam atop.
Smell: moderately sweet, with a ton of biscuity, crackery, cereal-ey malt character and a bit of yeastiness. I know that this kind of malt profile is acceptable in the style, but it’s a bit too much for me.
Taste: plenty more of that biscuit malt, with a good balance between sweetness and bitterness. There’s also that classic lager-yeast flavor in the mix that I like. This has a lot of things going on that I enjoy, but the biscuit malt profile is just over-the-top for me.
Mouthfeel: medium body with a good carbonation and creaminess for the style.
Overall: a well-made beer that just isn’t my jam.
