What is it and why should you care
Schilling is a "continental style" powerhouse but usually uses imported malts. However, this amber lager is made using barley from Stone Path Malting out of MA, and hopefully helps to reinforce the swelling local craft malt movement.
Nose:
Brown bread, husky and herbal hops, walnut dust. You can tell its one of those beers you're going to want a couple of.
Palate:
Damn, this reminds me of Mönchshof Keller but more bitter. Pumpernickel seed bread, almost caramelized, full mineral water mouth feel. Gulp-able. The leafy bitterness is really encouraging another sip and doesn't stick around for the exhale.
Conclusions:
It's dope. I hope they continue promoting craft malt with beers like this.
