Inspired by the rich and malt forward Czech Dark from U Fleků in Prague, our take exhibits notes of brown bread, toffee, and cocoa dusted almonds. Finishes smooth with a touch of oak from time spent in our American Oak Foeder.

From a 16 oz. can stamped 080222. Sampled August 21, 2022.
It's an attractive looking mahogany brown with maroon hues and a lasting tan head.
The aroma is dark roasted malts, cocoa, coffee, nutty, and floral.
Thin, light mouthfeel.
The flavor is sweet with a nutty character and it ends mildly dry.

This one pours a fairly dark black color, with a small white head, and lots of lacing.
This smells like creamy chocolate, roasted malt, pumpernickel, nuttiness, and a touch of herbal hop character.
This is quite fantastic, and represents what Schilling does so well. It’s got a pleasant light oakiness – it adds a really tasty spice character that melds well with the roastiness, and creamy chocolate sweetness. There’s some herbal hop character, as well.
This is creamy, light bodied, but full for the style, with a really great drinkability.
I really, really dig Schilling’s beer, and this is absolutely one of their best.

Sweet but very drinkable on a warm day. Dark and chocolate malts. Worth a try. From one of the many stores, they all tend to carry Schilling cans and their taste retains.

Can from the Packie,
Pours a dark brown color with a frothy tan head that persists.
Bready dark toast light cocoa maltiness with a spicy earthy floral hop to counter. Another great lager from a great brewery.

Pours a dark cola, fizzy 1" head that levels out leaving solid streaks of lacing. Nose is toasted malt, roasted peanuts, charred wood, baking chocolate, earthy and floral hops. Taste is a bit more subdued, but baker's chocolate, bitter cocoa, and leather. Mouthfeel is on the thin side with light but crisp carbonation. Finish is very tannic. Another solid lager from Schilling.

A: The beer is nearly jet black in color; when held up to a bright light hints of dark red are noticeable. It poured with a quarter finger high beige colored head that died down, leaving a patch of bubbles on the surface, a narrow collar around the edge, and some lacing down the sides of the glass.
S: Light to moderate aromas of dark malts are present in the nose along with notes of coffee and nuts.
T: The taste follows the smell and has additional notes of chocolate and toffee malts. There is a light amount of bitterness.
M: It feels medium-bodied and somewhat smooth on the palate with a moderate amount of carbonation.
O: This Czech Dark Lager is quite flavorful without being that heavy on the body. It is perfectly sessionable.

16 oz can.
Pours a deep, copper brown color with a large sudsy khaki head. Decent head retention. Leaves a huge swath of lacing around the glass. The head eventually settles into a thick blanket of foam.
The aroma brings notes of dark malts and roasted grains, as well as chocolate, dark fruits, and hazelnut coffee.
The flavor is exceptionally nutty and roasted. Lots of pecan and almond notes. There's a fair bit of chocolate and dark roast malts with just a hint of plum and raisin bread. Moderate hop finish.
The feel is medium-light bodied with moderate carbonation. Relatively soft and smooth and highly drinkable.
Overall, this is a great dark lager. At 4% this one is just exploding with flavor. You can tell this was made with care, as most Schilling beers are.
