The first rendition of our Czech-style black lager – Karlův 13° – to emerge from our American Oak foeder. Rich black color capped with a tight umber foam. Cocoa powder and a bold espresso roast on the nose. In the taste – toasted rustic bread, light herbal and spice notes, toffee and baker’s chocolate. Rounded and smooth mouthfeel.

Poured coffee black with a 3/4” light brown head which leaves no lacing.
The taste is chocolate covered toffee on rye bread. Seems strange when I see it like that but I don’t know how better to describe it.
The feel is soft and very easy quaffing, no issues there.
OA, another very good beer from Schilling!
