We made a sour saison? We added grapefruit to a sour saison?? What?? Well, we might have committed some light treason by making a sour saison with grapefruit. Our first ever sour saison showcases aromas of citrus zest and white pepper along with tart grapefruit juiciness.

Call it treason, call it a saison, whatever works for you, but this tastes like a wild ale more than a saison. But hey, nice to see something other than the golden sour base make an appearance in one of their beers.
Grapefruit addition appears to lend itself to a cloudy golden appearance, soft thin 1/5" white head devolves into nothingness in no time flat. Aroma is lactic sour, grapefruit and yeast.
Taste just like a grapefruit wild ale to me. Probably the most acidic "saison" I have ever had. Gussied up wild ale.

Tulip at THG.
A: Served a cloudy powdery lemon yellow with a very fizzy white head that quickly faded into nothing.
S: Bright fragrant citrus nose full of fresh grapefruit zest. Extremely clean, zesty, bright and sparkly. Slight mineral quality.
T: Grapefruit dominates as expected and tastes just like grapefruit juice (as opposed to hops that impart citrus notes). Very tart overall with a bright lactic presence, especially in the finish. Lightly creamy and slightly dough finish are reminiscent to the base saison. Fresh grapefruit and also lemon linger long into the aftertaste. Very slight sugary citrus candy-like sweetness in the finish before the tart and dry aftertaste.
M: Light body, very dry, very crisp, with tingly carbonation and tannins that leaves a gritty dryness in the finish.
O: Very candy-like overall in tartness and citrus flavor. Very tart and dry. If you love grapefruit check it out.
