Aurora Crimson Saison is named after the colorful cosmic rays seen in the northern sky. This Saison is brewed for summertime refreshment. A light malt flavor is accentuated by the spicy Belgian yeast flavors. The crimson comes from the addition of rhubarb, which adds a radiant tart character to the beer. Hopped to balance with Sterling hops.

Slightly hazy with the familiar saison belgian yeast on the nose. The ruhbarb was a great choice because it subdued the spiceness ofthetypical saison and replaced it with a nice tarness. Good beer.

22oz bottle served in a wine glass. Bottled on 06/17/15. Beer pour turbid yellow in color. Mild, grassy aroma. Aroma is gently tart but quite drinkable. Exceedingly crisp, dry on the palate, pleasantly effervescent. There is also a hoppy spiciness to it. I would not have guessed the tartness comes from rhubarb; there could have just as easily have been brett. Overall this is a quite drinkable, sessionable even, saison, even if the rhubarb gimmick doesn't really work for me.

22oz bottle purchased at Huckleberry’s in Spokane for $4.99. According to the stamp on the neck, this was bottled July 1, 2015.

Poured into a Chimay glassm this was a somewhat hazy apricot color, with a modest beige head that dropped somewhat quickly.

Things smelled earthy, tart, fruity and spicy. It seemed about right for the style.

The taste was much like the aroma. It’s not a flavor bomb of a saison, but it’s not bad. I really don’t know what the rhubarb brings to the beer. I have lived a generally rhubarb-free life, and don’t really know what it tastes like.

The body was at the heavy end of light, and the mouthfeel was a little lethargic as well. Better than some American saisons I’ve had, but it was definitely not at the front of the pack, either.

A decent “light” saison, but not my favorite stab at one (that would be Selkirk Abbey’s Coeur d’Alene Triathalon saison, sadly a one-off). Worth drinking if you see it, but not one to seek out.

Served in a ten ounce glass at a Whole Foods in Seattle.

A- Golden body with a thick foamy white head that looks chewy. 4.5

S- Floral and fruity yeast nose. Banana and white grapes and light sweetness. 3.75

T- Banana flavor is big and sweet followed by a slightly tart, floral and white-wine-like flavor and yeast flavor. The finish is a medley of lingering banana, white grapes and almost nutty, hefe-like flavor. Nice but has a lot of hefe flavor to it. 3.75

M- Refreshing and light-bodied and not overly malty. Lively carbonation tingles on the tongue and accentuates the flavors. There's the lightest hint of tartness which is a nice touch. 4

Quite enjoyable.

22 oz. bomber bought from Lifesource Natural Grocers in Salem OR $4.99. Pours a dull golden colour into the glass with a half inch thick and tightly knit head. Nice earthy, phenolic yeastiness in the aroma, some summer berry fruits also..little raspberry like aroma. Taste the same with the semi dryness expected of a saison..finishes with a touch of black pepper. OK drinkable mouth feel..semi vigorous carbonation..drying finish. Nice low alc saison ( a miracle from an American brewer!!)

Ecliptic Brewing Aurora Crimson Saison. Brewed on June 3rd 2015 with rhubarb. 5% abv.

A: goldish red? A lot of beers look really similar despite their distinct tastes.

S: tartness, rhubarby, smells almost like hibiscus, also some grain.

T: saison yeast, sweet light malt, a tiny hint of coriander, distinct rhubarb, tart rhubarb aftertaste.

M: refreshing, bubbly, tart. Rhubarb and light grain lies on the tongue.

O: Ecliptic is one of those Portland breweries like Burnside Brewing that goes hard on the fruit/vegetable seasonal beers. This is a good beer, it does what it says on the can, so to speak, it’s billed as a summer refresher and it refreshes in summer without tasting boring. It’s slightly tart but really mild, one could drink these for a while. I like it because it reminds me of the rhubarb pies my mom used to make.

A very pleasant and slightly hoppy Saison, but I don't taste the rhubarb it is supposed to be brewed with. Color is a nearly clear golden amber with a proper foam-up in the New Belgium snifter. Not much in the way of aromatics.

A little wheaty taste but fairly dry. Just a little tanginess that might be the sour rhubarb. Very light flavor, and certainly not fruity. Sudsy mouthfeel but quite a light body. Bitter edge. Label says there are some Sterling hops but IBU is rated at 28. From the 22 oz bottle purchased at Elizabeth Station in Bellingham.
