A thin, short-lived dark almond head is composed of fine bubbles. The beer is clear, dark ruby red in a St. Hermes tulip glass.
The aroma is composed of sweet/sour cherries with a hint of earthiness. Currants are in the background with a faint, floral rose.
The flavors are well balanced between sweetness and bitterness. Both are present in modest proportions, while a touch of sourness is only noticeable up front and late in each sip. Some red berries form a modest foreground against the graininess. The bottle claims beet juice is added. If so, it is at best barely noticeable. The finish is mild and lingering.
A medium body becomes full with warmth, while a soft, smooth texture hosts moderate carbonation and light alcohol. This one turns dry in the finish.
Stoneworks fits within the style, and with some tuning will shine. Fresh at the brewery, this was a standout. However a couple of months later from the bottle, it suffers a little. Either way, this was an enjoyable beer in late Autumn and again on a mid-Winter afternoon.

I'd call this either a dubbel or a Belgian dark ale, mine just want pale.
This was a ruby tinted amber color, it came with a thick frothy head.
This lacked some of the fruity complexities of a great dubbel, but I really liked this regardless. Lots of sugary rum and caramel plus some floral warmth. A bit sweeter than I prefer, this still went down easily. I doubt I ever will, but I hope get a chance to try more from these guys.

On tap at Acme Bar and Pizza in Rochester, NY.
Pours a dark crimson red into a Bud Light pitcher. Not much head or lacing, probably due to the pour. When I pour into a pint glass, it forms a very small head.
Smells like Belgian yeast, candi sugar, rum, and brown sugar.
The taste is very similar. Slightly boozy, with lots of brown sugar and rum flavors, along with some slightly overwhelming Belgian yeast flavors. Slightly one note, and a bit boozy, even though it's only 6.5% ABV.
Medium bodied, medium carbonation, crisp mouthfeel.
Not one of Abandon's best beers, but not horrible.
