Here is the latest AI scoop on Belgian brewers using the abbey branding. 84 brewers at last count in the middle of this decade. However as of the last reliable count in 2012, only 18 of them had actual contracts with abbeys and, presumably, paid them money. (Sources: Michael Jackson, Garrett Oliver and The Union of Belgian Brewers.)
So, does BVS have a contract with Abbaye D'Aulne? I hope so. I also hope this Blond 6 is a success because brewer and abbey deserve it. Blond 6 Looks active to start, but protein swirls waned before I got to the bottom. Smells are typical BB, yeasty and tree fruit, like apples and peaches. Tastes are well-balanced; finishing that way also. Medium-mouthed in a full style.
I give good Overall Hugs to BVS because Blonde 6 paired well with my red sauce on pasta and because I expect BVS to tell how much they helped the monks' mission. While their website does not have an English translation that I could find, it does use the Certified Belgian Abbey insignia... so that's a good sign that I will drink more of BVS... so they can pay for their very fancy brewhouse. A Votre Sante' !

Mostly clear golden body with a white head. Blond malt base for the yeast, black pepper, and stale bread play on in the nose. Taste has sweetness to the malt and apple esters that is considerable, yeast/breadiness again has a stale sense to it, lemon zest finishes. Feels medium bodied with plenty of malt up front though the yeast builds as you go down the class, kind of frothy yet light. Average BB

Es una cerveza con una buena relación precio/calidad. Tiene una cabeza espumosa duradera. Es ligera y de carbonatación media/baja. Aroma a malta y caramelo. En boca es dulce con un final ligeramente amargo.

Golden color with a thin head.
Aroma with notes of oranges, a bit of candi sugar, distant herbal hops and honey.
Flavor with notes of white pepper, oranges, herbal and floral hops, grainy malt sweetness, lemon drops and perfume. Dry aftertaste with a mild to medium bitterness.
Light body with appropriate carbonation.
Pleasant Belgian Blond Ale with good attenuation and predominant spices and oranges notes. Higher drinkability and lower complexity relatively to style.

Golden color with a white foamy head. Aroma of cereals, smells a bit sour. Huge metal taste. A dissapointement.
