Appearance: A thick tan head builds on the onyx liquid; impressive retention and a wall of lacing is created
Smell: Roasted tones, with black bread and toasted coconut aromatics; a hint of Whisky
Taste: Black bread forward with toasted coconut tones adding a subtle element; the roast and Whisky tones build through the middle, with some bitterness and coffee developing; rather charred in the finish, with just a hint of the toasted coconut remaining
Mouthfeel: Medium to full body with moderate carbonation; some warmth from the ABV
Overall: The Defiant Whisky treatment here seems more noticeable than the toasted coconut variation; being a coconut lover I was hoping for more from that element but I have yet to find a coconut beer that produces the flavor I seek; still, this is rather good; surprising that it has no ticks given the other Urban Monk variants have attracted more attention
