My first beer from Fonta Flora, shared by an anonymous benefactor (Thanks!) at the Mississippi Brewers Guild Collaboration Day at Lucky Town Brewing, Jackson, Mississippi. Anyway, had poured from 25.4-oz bomber into clear plastic beer cup. I was not able to detect mushrooms, but this is an excellent, funky, sophisticated wild golden ale with a lovely tart dry finish.

a seriously righteous beer, lucky to have been able to be part of drinking this special brew. i love the clever name and i love the packaging, they certainly have appealed to me aesthetically, this textured paper label with the right amount of color and brand identification, a beeswax looking dip, and the green glass, very sharp bottle. a wild ale, lambic type, brewed with chanterelle mushrooms. ive seen this kind of thing before, but the execution here is way up there for me. the wild ale at its base is incredible, oaky and clean, rustic and grainy, funky without being too sour, and quite complex but also delicate at the same time, really refined, traditional, and professional as they go, and even without the mushrooms, this beer would be special. the mushrooms are subtle, i have known beers where they influence the flavor quite a bit more than they do here, but one familiar with the woody richness of these chanterelles should absolutely be able to appreciate their contribution. its their marriage with the wood here that really is unique, this is insanely earthy, a cool juxtaposition to the bright citrus character in the bacterial profile here. some notes of white wine, wet earth, dried orange, and compost. its a beautiful beer, and its got spritzing carbonation, a light light body, and a ton of character. lambic type funk to it, and the mushrooms make it so interesting. man this is a cool beer, i wish we had access to more fonta flora beer here in colorado, i have been so impressed with what little i have had from them so far. this is a gem!

Thanks to Wil for this one!
Frothy foam with delicate lacing, pale pastel gold with a hint of golden orange.
Earthy floral aroma, root vegetable, lightly sweet at times.
Tart and crisp, earthy and herbal, white grape juice aftertaste. Light and effervescent, slightly peanutty. Overall it's very unique and interesting stuff, the unique mushroom flavor comes through nicely.
