i love the woody or wild gose type, i am fatiguing of the one dimensional thing with these, the lacto leading the charge and nothing else there from a fermentation standpoint, but this isnt like that, it has great complexity to it, woody but still light and refreshing, the wood fermentation is important here, sort of its signature for me, but its also got a little bretty wild thing going on, fully compatible with the watermelon and herbs its made with. i like the pale washed out raw wheaty look of this and the dry and bitter watermelon on it, rind seems like a good name, more green and cruchy than sweet and fleshy there, a cool touch and use of this fruit in here. the salt is way light, but there is a strong citrus thing happening, general minerals more than salt to me, sort of tied in with the wood. some tea and dried cooking herbs too, neat with the watermelon but streamlined to me, more complex than most gose, but nowhere near as interesting and layered as so much of the fonta flora beer that i have had in the past. crazy drinkable though because its botanical and summery and fresh and insanely light, without being real sour at all. i enjoyed this, found it unique, but its not on my list of all time fonta flora brews. great use of the watermelon though!
